Laurel County man charged after being found slumped in truck with drugs and gun
LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A Laurel County man is facing drug trafficking charges after police say he was found unresponsive in his vehicle outside a Dollar General store.
According to the London Police Department, 36-year-old Nicholas Phillips was arrested last Friday after officers discovered him allegedly slumped over in a pickup truck with the driver’s door open in the store’s parking lot.
Police say they detected the smell of marijuana and noted Phillips showed signs of impairment.
A search of the truck led officers to a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia including baggies and scales, a gun, and cash.
Phillips was taken into custody and is facing multiple charges, including drug trafficking and possession of a firearm.
