Laurel County man arrested for burglary, unlawful imprisonment
LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Laurel County man is facing multiple charges after allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home and holding her against her will.
According to a Facebook post from the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, 39-year-old William Overbey was arrested Tuesday afternoon on Byble Road, about three miles south of London. Deputies responded to a 911 call reporting that Overbey had allegedly kicked in the door of his ex-girlfriend’s home and forced her to stay inside.
According to the post, when deputies arrived, the victim and her mother confirmed the incident, stating Overbey had left the scene on foot. Deputies later located him walking nearby and determined he was under the influence. Investigators say they also found that Overbey had not lived at the residence since November of last year, and had been evicted. Authorities noted that 911 dispatch had received 30 complaints regarding Overbey at the residence since March 2024.
Overbey was charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, second-degree criminal mischief, and public intoxication (controlled substances). He was taken to the Laurel County Correctional Center.
