Laurel County man arrested after woman reports being held against her will
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Laurel County man is in custody after authorities say a woman reported he held her against her will.
According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Delmas Gillam Road after a woman reported that 50-year-old Christopher Buttrey had allegedly fired shots inside her pickup truck and then got inside the vehicle with her.
When deputies arrived, they found the truck with multiple gunshot holes, including one near the driver’s seat where the woman had been sitting. Authorities said no one was inside the vehicle when they arrived.
Investigators say the woman was later found inside a nearby home, while Buttrey was located lying on the ground behind the house and moving his arms.
Deputies also found a handgun and drugs in the area where Buttrey was lying.
Buttrey is facing several charges, including kidnapping of an adult, wanton endangerment, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
He is currently being held in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
