Laurel County man accused of threatening to shoot 911 caller

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Deputies say a Laurel County man is in custody after firing a shotgun and threatening to shoot the person who called the authorities.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were sent to Sinking Creek Road on Tuesday around 9:30 p.m. because of a complaint of 56-year-old James Smith shooting in the area.

When they got there, deputies say Smith hid the loaded gun behind a building. They say they also found another loaded gun Smith hid in a field. Deputies say Smith was under the influence.

He is charged with wanton endangerment, terroristic threatening and public intoxication.
