Laurel County family’s home damaged in fire

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- A family has to find somewhere to stay after a fire damaged their Laurel County home.

The County Fire Department says it was dispatched to EJ Lane off Old Way Road around 9:00 a.m. Sunday.

Firefighters say light smoke was coming from the home as the first engine arrived.

According to the department, the fire was contained to a bedroom closet that held the hot water heater.

The home reportedly suffered major smoke damage.

The Fire Department says it contacted the Red Cross to help the family find shelter.

No one was hurt.
