Laurel County deputies detain three individuals for ICE following drug and intoxication arrests
LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Three individuals were taken into custody in Laurel County Friday night on various charges, including drug trafficking and public intoxication, and are now being held for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.
A release says deputies responded to a reckless driving complaint Friday night around 7:30 p.m. and located the suspect vehicle near Fifth Street and Spivey Lane in London. During the investigation, deputies say they identified three individuals: Enjel Sosa-Olivas, Jose Roberto Landero, and Yalibeth Del Carmen Peralta-Gonzalez.
Sosa-Olivas, 23, was found in possession of suspected fentanyl and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (first offense – fentanyl). Landero, 39, and Peralta-Gonzalez, 29, were both determined to be under the influence. Landero also resisted arrest.
Deputies say they later determined all three were in the U.S. illegally. They were being held in the Laurel County Correctional Center with an ICE detainer and are set to be deported to Nicaragua. ICE assisted deputies in interpreting during the investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.
