Laurel Co. Sheriff: Men Stole Music Equipment, Left ID Info at Pawn Shop
The Sheriff’s Office said they got a call on Monday about the items that were allegedly stolen from a home’s garage on Powers Lane.
Investigators learned the equipment had been sold to a nearby pawn shop for $55 and that two men had reportedly given their information and their license plate number to the clerk.
According to deputies, the vehicle was spotted close to the pawn shop and was pulled over. They said the men inside, 30-year-old Elmo Carroll and 27-year-old Jonathan Cathers, both confessed to the thefts and to selling the equipment.
Carroll was charged with second-degree burglary and public intoxication by controlled substances.
Cathers was also charged with second-degree burglary and DUI.
They were both booked into the Laurel County Detention Facility.
Officials said over half of the stolen items have been recovered.
