Laurel Co. Sheriff looking for suspect after shots fired at couple
LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Deputies are investigating after a man reportedly fired a rifle at two people on Hensley Road early Thursday morning.
The Sheriff says they were called to a home at about 3:30 a.m., where the homeowner told them that a Chevrolet Caprice with Ohio license plates had been abandoned on his property. Deputies say they towed the truck, but the owner of the car came back later that morning. According to deputies, the car’s owner, 23-year-old Robert Hurley III, then fired a rifle into the air.
Deputies say Hurley then went to a home on nearby Little County Road, and fired several additional shots at the victim and the victim’s wife, with one hitting a home and another hitting a car. The victim reportedly fired a gun back at Hurley in self-defense, before Hurley got into a vehicle and drove away from the scene. He hasn’t been seen since.
Deputies say an arrest warrant has been issued on Hurley, charging him with wanton endangerment.
Anyone with information on Hurley’s whereabouts is asked to call the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office at (606) 864-6600.
