Laurel Co. Animal Shelter: Intake closed until further notice

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – An unexpected influx of nearly 200 dogs to The Laurel Co. Animal Shelter is causing the facility to temporarily suspend taking in any more animals until the current population is rescued or adopted.

Homeward Bound Animal Rescue was raided last week, and the director charged with animal cruelty.  The animals were brought to the Laurel Co. Animal Shelter to be sheltered while the court case for Homeward Bound’s director, Stephanie Fields, is conducted.

Laurel Co. Animal Shelter is calling for in-state rescue organizations to foster the freed dogs until the case has been tried.  They are also asking shelters that may have sent dogs to Homeward Bound to pick up the dogs they sent there.
