Late-night fire damages Lexington home

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A home is significantly damaged following a late-night fire in Lexington.

Firefighters were called to a home in the 400-block of Price Street just after 11:30 p.m. and arrived to find flames shooting out of the sides of the house.

Firefighters say there were five people in the home at the time the fire broke out but everyone made it out.

No one was injured.

Firefighters say there was a challenge fighting the fire. They say flames were burning near the pole that feeds electricity to the home, so they had to wait for Kentucky Utilities to disconnect the electricity.

Firefighters say they are not sure if there were working smoke detectors in the home.

The Red Cross is helping the family.

No word on when they will be able to return home.

Firefighters say they are not yet sure of a cause.
