Last of 5 suspects in double slaying pleads guilty

ASHLAND, Ky. (AP) — A fifth suspect in a double slaying in northeastern Kentucky has pleaded guilty.

The Independent (http://bit.ly/1OHiKwD) reports 25-year-old Willie Burns entered the plea Wednesday in Greenup Circuit Court to two counts of manslaughter, robbery, facilitating arson and tampering with physical evidence.

Burns was the last defendant to enter a plea in the 2008 slayings of 45-year-old Jeffrey Long and 21-year-old Pamela Willis. Their bodies were found in Long’s burned out trailer in Greenup.

Prosecutors are recommending that he be sentenced to 20 years in prison. The judge set a sentencing date of April 29.

Police in Greenup County investigated the deaths for five years before charging Burns and four others in the deaths.
