Last day to apply for FEMA disaster assistance after April storms in Kentucky

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Today is the final day for Kentucky homeowners and renters affected by April’s severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding, landslides and mudslides to apply for federal disaster assistance from FEMA. The deadline to register is 11:59 p.m. tonight.

How to apply for FEMA assistance:

  • Online: Visit DisasterAssistance.gov

  • In person: Go to any Disaster Recovery Center (find locations at fema.gov/DRC or text DRC and your ZIP code to 43362)

  • Mobile app: Use the free FEMA app

  • Phone: Call the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362 (assistance available in multiple languages; relay services accepted)

FEMA caseworkers can explain available programs, help complete applications, and connect survivors with other recovery resources. Applicants will need:

  • Contact phone number

  • Disaster-affected address and current residence

  • Social Security number

  • List of damages and losses

  • Banking information for direct deposit (if desired)

  • Insurance policy details (if insured)

Disaster assistance is designed to meet basic needs and supplement—but not replace—insurance. Recipients should keep their contact information up to date in case FEMA needs to schedule a home inspection or request additional documentation.
