Last day to apply for FEMA aid

KENTUCKY (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Kentuckians impacted by the May 16–17 tornado outbreak have just one more day to apply for federal disaster assistance.

The deadline is Friday, August 22, and it applies to both homeowners and renters in Caldwell, Laurel, Pulaski, Russell, Trigg, and Union counties.

FEMA officials are urging survivors to file insurance claims first, since federal aid cannot duplicate insurance benefits.

Applications for assistance can be submitted in several ways: online at DisasterAssistance.gov, through the FEMA mobile app, by calling the FEMA helpline, or by visiting a Disaster Recovery Center in person.
