Lansdowne Elem warns parents of online predator

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Parents of children attending Lansdowne Elementary School received an unsettling letter from Jennifer Fish, the school principal.

In the letter, principal Fish warned parents that someone using a social networking app called “ooVoo” is contacting students, making inappropriate comments, and requesting pictures or videos of the children.

According to the principal, Fayette Co. Public Schools Department of Law Enforcement and the Lexington Police Department are investigating the case.

The principal is urging all parents to speak with their children about internet safety.  She is also advising all parents to check their children’s phone to see if they have the “ooVoo” app.  If so, check the messages there, and report anything suspicious to the Lexington Police Department at 859-258-3600

We will continue to monitor this investigation, and release updates as they become available.
