Lamont Butler and Andrew Carr land UDFA deals

BROOKLYN, Ny. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Lamont Butler becomes the first player to sign an undrafted free agent deal from the Wildcats last season. The 6 ‘2 guard has inked a 2-way deal with the Atlanta Hawks, meaning that he will split time with the team and their G-League Affiliate.

Butler was the head of the snake on defense last season as he was known for his on-ball pressure and racked up 1.6 steals per game. The guard also shot a career best 49.8% from the field and 39.1% from three while also scoring a career best 11.4 points per game across 27 games.

His most notable game was against Louisville in December where he scored a career-high 33 points and won MVP of the game.

Andrew Carr became the second Cat to ink an undrafted free agent deal from last season’s basketball team. Carr will be joining the Portland Trail Blazers on an Exhibit 10 contract. This is a non-guaranteed deal for next season, but will allow Carr to participate with the Trail Blazers’ summer league team and with the team during training camp where he will attempt to obtain a guaranteed contract.

Carr was one of the key pieces for the Cats last season, starting in 29 of the 35 games he played in. The 6 ’11 forward was known for being a stretch big for Kentucky last year scoring 10.3 points per game and 32.4% from three on the year.

His most notable game as a Wildcat came against Duke in November where he scored 17 points and also grabbed 6 rebounds.
