La Familia back in action on Tuesday night versus Herd That

UK men's basketball's team looking to stay alive in TBT

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW)- La Familia is in the Round of 16 of The Basketball Tournament on July 23 at Rupp Arena, but they are looking for more than just another game.

“We understand the goal at hand,” said Head Coach Tyler Ulis. “These guys are all professionals. It’s just contagious when you bring that energy.”

The Kentucky men’s basketball alumni team bested War Ready on Sunday by a score of 81-64.

Kerem Kanter, the brother of former UK baller Enes, scored the Elam Ending winning bucket to keep La Familia alive.

“I appreciate of them for accepting me,” said Kanter. “I just wanted to be aggressive. We wanted to pound the ball inside. There are so many guys who can do so many things.”

A third win would put La Familia into TBT’s ‘”Elite Eight,” and mean a potential showdown with Louisville’s alumni team, The ‘Ville.

The Cardinals play Team DRC on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

“I just want to focus on our guys. If we do what we do then it’ll be hard to beat us,” said Ulis.

La Familia faces Herd That, Marshall University’s TBT team, on Tuesday at 9 p.m. Tickets can be bought at this link.
