KY volunteer firefighter dies following crash in Colorado

WACO, Ky. (WTVQ) – A former firefighter with the Waco Volunteer Fire Department has passed away almost a month after suffering critical injuries in a motorcycle accident in Colorado.

Erik Haslem was riding a motorcycle April 25 in Lakewood, Colorado, when he collided with a Jeep, according to his family.

Haslem suffered brain trauma and a severed spinal cord.

On Monday, the Waco Volunteer Fire Department posted on its Facebook page that Haslem died of complications from his injuries.

Haslem was a volunteer with the fire department while studying at Eastern Kentucky University.

The department says funeral arrangements for Haslem are pending.
