KY man still missing nearly a year later, family wants answers

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Friday will mark one year since a man was last seen or heard from in Lexington, and some strange things have happened in this year that have his family thinking this is more than just their loved one disappearing.

Mary Trent said she’s still waiting to hear something – anything – about her nephew’s, Raymond Ramsuer, disappearance.

“I want answers,” Trent said. “I want to find my nephew.”

She said she knew something was wrong when he didn’t pick up his stimulus check from his ex-girlfriend.

“I was thinking maybe he was just at a friends and he would come for his checks,” Trent said.

She said Ramseur hasn’t picked up any of his stimulus checks since.

In July, she filed a missing person’s report. Trent later hired a private investigator, made a Facebook group dedicated to finding her nephew and posted flyers throughout Lexington and Louisville because he traveled to both cities often.

“Thousands and thousands of people have posted pictures, sharing pictures – I’ve done everything I can to try to find him,” Trent said.

Trent said this goes beyond her nephew just being missing.

Six months ago, she said got a call demanding money or her nephew would be killed. Trent said police haven’t given her answers yet. They haven’t for WTVQ either.

Lexington police says detectives are continuing to investigate this incident and details about the investigation cannot be discussed at this time.

Trent also says in January, someone logged into Ramsuer’s Facebook account and made a status asking why people were looking for him, and changed his profile picture.

“Everyone said that’s not Ray,” Trent said. “Ray would have called his brothers by now. He was very close with his brothers.”

Trent says the situation is even more heartbreaking because her nephew overcame a drug problem and was looking to change his life.

Now, with the one year anniversary of his disappearance coming up Friday, and his 26th birthday Saturday, Trent said the only thing she and others can do is keep looking and hoping.

“He is a human. He has family, Trent said. “He has a kid. He has family that loves him and misses him and we want answers.

Trent said the family plans to stand outside of the Lexington Police Department Saturday and demand answers.
