KY Equine Humane Center to hold “Stock the Barn” fundraiser
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Kentucky Equine Humane Center will be hosting their annual fundraiser, “Stock the Barn,” on the evening of April 16, 2016 at Manchester Music Hall in Lexington.
The goal of the fundraiser is to raise money for the care of the horses that are temporarily residing at the Center while going through rehabilitation and training in order to find their forever homes.
The event will include casino style gaming, a silent wine auction and dinner by Chef and Food Network veteran Ranada West-Riley, of Creative Table Kitchen and Catering.
The Kentucky Equine Humane Center, located in Nicholasville, Kentucky, provides humane treatment and shelter while working to seek adoptive homes and provide second chances for Kentucky’s equines, regardless of breed. Horses are surrendered to the Center, and staff members work with them to improve their health, train them, and then adopt them out to their forever homes.
An average of 6-10 horses a month are taken in and adopted out, and it costs approximately $500 per month to care for each horse. Donations to the Center can be made
online at www.kyehc.org, or on the Center’s Facebook page. Checks can be mailed to P.O. Box 910125, Lexington, KY 40591.
