KY candy manufacturing plant worker diagnosed with hepatitis A

ANDERSON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A candy manufacturing plant in Anderson County announced one of its employees has been diagnosed with hepatitis A.

According to the Anderson County Health Department, the employee works at Bauer’s Candies in Lawrenceburg and was diagnosed on November 27.

The health department says the risk of infection to those who purchased candy while the employee worked there is very low.

The Food and Drug Administration, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Kentucky Department for Public Health are investigating.

“Bauer’s Candies has cooperated fully with this investigation and will continue to do so moving forward. Bauer’s Candies, in an effort of be proactive, has made it mandatory since October, that all employees will have their Hepatitis A Vaccination or they will be unable to work for Bauer’s,” the company said in a statement.
