KY Association of Health Plans and KY Voices partner to cover vaccines

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – As we’ve reported, Fayette County is currently experiencing an outbreak of whooping cough, with 48 new confirmed cases. In response, a new partnership between two health organizations aims to increase access to vaccinations for children across the Bluegrass region.

The Kentucky Association of Health Plans and Kentucky Voices for Health announced their collaboration on Tuesday. The partnership includes a three-year, $360,000 grant aimed at improving vaccine access throughout the state. Kentucky Voices for Health highlighted that Kentucky has some of the lowest immunization rates for children, and this initiative seeks to address that by ensuring routine immunizations are accessible regardless of insurance or Medicaid coverage.

The Vaccines for Children program, a key component of this partnership, will play a crucial role in preventing serious illnesses such as measles, mumps, whooping cough, and more.
