KY Art Market supports local artists who struggled during pandemic

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Kentucky Art Market returned to the Woodland Christian Church this weekend, playing host to 60 artists.

The Kentucky Art Market took place just across the road from the Woodland Art Fair. Dan Barnes, the event’s Director and an artist himself, hoped to support local artists who’ve struggled through the pandemic.

“Our mission of the church is to promote Kentucky art, and so 75% of the artists here are from Kentucky and from all over the State. All of the artists were devastated. For a year and a half, all of the shows were cancelled. So for a lot of our artists, this weekend is the first show they’ve had since COVID hit. So I really want to ask people to come out and support the local artists” said Barnes.

According to Barnes, thousands of visitors attended the show.
