KY annual jobless rate fell 1.1% between 2014 and 2015
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – According to Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet, Kentucky’s 2015 annual jobless rate fell to 5.4 percent, from 6.5 in 2014.
According to the Office of Employment and Training, the state gained 27,700 non-farm jobs.
The Cabinet says this is the lowest annual jobless rate for the state, since 2007.
“In spite of these gains, there is undoubtedly room for improvement,” said economist Manoj Shanker of OET. “Kentucky has a low labor force participation rate, which at 53.7 percent, ranks us at 47th in the nation.”
The U.S. annual unemployment rate dropped to 5.3 percent in 2015 from 6.2 percent in 2014.
