KY 111 bridge replacement in Fleming County now complete
FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – Replacement of the KY 111 bridge over Allison Creek in Fleming County is now complete and the road has reopened within the project’s 30-day time frame.
Work began July 17 when contractors closed the bridge for demolition. Crews then spent several weeks making repairs and replacing the bridge’s concrete superstructure.
The project was done by M&M Services Co., Inc., under a $2,688,780.76 Transportation Cabinet contract for six bridge rehabs through the Bridging Kentucky program. The program is a commitment to improve safety and soundness of the Commonwealth’s bridges by rehabilitating, repairing, or replacing more than 1,000 critical structures in all 120 Kentucky counties over the next six years.
The program will open previously closed structures, improve bridge lifespans and ensure appropriate weight capacities are met, and improve access and mobility for all Kentuckians.
