KSU Appoints Interim Provost

Kentucky State University appointed Dr. Beverly L. Downing as the school’s interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, effective immediately.

Downing replaced Dr. Joel Thierstein, who remained as a professor in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Downing had been the Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education and Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs since August 2013.

Previously, she was the Chair of KSU’s School of Education.

Downing earned a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education at Livingstone College; master’s degree in both secondary education and special education from Hampton University; and Doctor of Arts degree in pedagogy from Middle Tennessee State University.
