KSP: Two prisoners escape transport vehicle in Clay County
MANCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – State Police say two prisoners escaped Monday afternoon from a Leslie County Detention Center transport vehicle while it was stopped at an intersection in Clay County. Investigators say 34-year old Ledford Hamilton, of Artemus, and 24-year old Ronald Gray, of Barbourville, escaped through an unsecured door and took off running.
State Police say it happened shortly after 5:00 p.m. at the intersection of KY 11 and South Highway 421.
Investigators say two Leslie County Deputy Jailers were transporting multiple inmates from the Knox County Detention Center to the Leslie County Detention Center at the time of the escapes.
State Police Hamilton was located a short time later on Highway 11, nearly a mile and a half from where he escaped. He was taken back into custody.
As of this writing, Gray was still on the loose. He was last seen wearing a light-colored T-shirt with either gray sweatpants or gray shorts and flip-flops.
