KSP: Two people injured after slamming into log truck

PAGE, Ky. (WTVQ) – State Police say two people had to be cut out of a pickup truck after slamming into the back of a log truck on U.S. 119 in the Page Community of Bell County. The accident happened just before 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, according to KSP.

Investigators say a log truck driven by 34-year old Nathan Cornett, of Pineville, was trying to make a left turn off of U.S. 119 onto Boss Bingham Road when a 1991 Chevy S-10 pickup truck, driven by 48-year old James Fields, of Cumberland, ran into the back of it.

State Police say Fields and his passenger, 51-year old Donna Fields, of Cumberland, had to be extricated from the pickup. They were both airlifted from the scene to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Their conditions weren’t immediately known, according to KSP.

The log truck driver wasn’t hurt.

U.S. 119 was closed for approximately 2-hours.
