KSP: Man charged with DUI after hitting Trooper’s cruiser
RACELAND, Ky. (WTVQ) – Sunday afternoon a man hit a State Trooper when crossing US 23 in Greenup County, according to KSP.
According to witnesses and evidence at the scene, 27-year old Allen Wheeler, of Ashland, crossed both lanes of US 23 without giving the right of way to Northbound traffic.
Wheeler hit Trooper Steven Davidson and caused Davidson’s cruiser to go into a ditch, according to investigators.
Both drivers were treated for minor injuries.
KSP says after being released from the hospital, Wheeler was taken to the Greenup County Detention Center.
Wheeler faces several charges: DUI, driving on suspended license, failure to produce insurance card, no registration plate or receipt, driving without license/negligence in accident, according to KSP.
