KSP: Trooper forced to fire at car

FRANKFORT Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say a trooper was forced to fire at a car in Frankfort because the driver tried to run him down.

State police say just before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, troopers tried to stop the driver of a Honda Accord on Bald Knob Road.

They say the driver, 37-year-old Daniel Rhine did stop, but as officers approached his car, they say he then sped toward the troopers.

One of the troopers fired multiple rounds at the car to defend himself, according to police.

They say Rhine then crashed his car on River Ridge Road.

He was taken to Franklin County Medical Center for minor injuries from the accident.

Rhine is being charged with trafficking in a controlled substance.

Police say more charges are pending.
