KSP: Trooper assaulted after car chase

UPDATE: Dustin Thompson has been located. The arrest warrant has been served and he has been arrested according to Kentucky State Police.
ORIGINAL STORY
RAYWICK, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – A Kentucky State Police Trooper was assaulted early Friday morning after a vehicle pursuit according to Kentucky State Police, according to a KSP release.
Troopers say the incident happened at approximately 12:10 a.m. Friday, when the Trooper attempted to perform a traffic stop on Clarkstown Road in Nelson County for a traffic violation. The vehicle did not stop when the Trooper activated his emergency lights which led to a pursuit.
KSP says the pursuit continued onto Sulphur Lick Road in Marion County where it ended once the road turned into a dead end.
After the pursuit, the driver left the vehicle and ran into some woods on foot. The Trooper was able to catch up to the drive a little while later, according to KSP. The release says the Trooper was assaulted by the operator, who left the immediate area.
The Trooper was treated and released from the hospital.
The suspect has been identified as 31-year-old, Dustin M. Thompson, of New Hope. An arrest warrant has been obtained for Mr. Thompson, charging him with 1st Degree strangulation, Assault 1st Degree of a Police Officer, Disarming a police officer, and theft or disposal of a firearm.
