KSP To Provide Statewide Drop Off Locations For Unused RX Meds

Kentucky State Police will partner with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) on October 26th, in a collaborative effort to remove potentially dangerous controlled substances from home medicine cabinets. Collection activities will take place from 10:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. at eighteen locations across the state.

Area locations include: KSP Post 7, 699 Eastern Bypass in Richmond, KY; KSP Post 12, 1250 Louisville Road
Frankfort, KY; and KSP Post 8, Carl Perkins Com Center, Crayton Jackson Lane, Morehead, KY. 

Participants may dispose of medication in its original container or by removing the medication from its container and disposing of it directly into the disposal box that will be located at the drop off site.

All solid dosage pharmaceutical product and liquids in consumer containers may be accepted. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container. The depositor should ensure that the cap is tightly sealed to prevent leakage.

Intra-venous solutions, injectibles, and syringes will not be accepted due to potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens.
