KSP: Suspicious man approached teen in Madison County
MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- State police are warning people in Madison County after they say a suspicious man approached a 17-year-old girl. They say it happened around 11:00am Wednesday at a lake in the Heron Landing subdivision, east of Richmond.
Investigators say the man stepped out of a car and opened the rear driver’s side door, then told the teen he was not there to hurt her and she should not be afraid. According to state police, ” She began to move away from him and he continued walking towards her while saying “I’m not going to hurt you.”
Troopers say the girl then ran to safety, and the man went back to the car and drove off.
State police say the suspect is in his 60’s, 6 feet 2 inches tall, about 160 lbs., and has salt and pepper hair. Troopers say he was wearing jeans, a navy blue collared shirt, brown shoes, and wire framed glasses. Investigators say the man was driving a small four-door, dull red colored passenger car that resembled a Nissan Sentra.
Troopers are reminding people in the community to be aware of their surroundings. Anyone with any information on Wednesday’s encounter is asked to call KSP Post 7 at 859-623-2404.
