KSP: Son shoots mother in Boyd County

BOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say officers were forced to fire on a suspect after they responded to a shooting in Boyd County.

State Police say a man shot his mother at a home on Barbeque Road around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

According to State Police, a preliminary investigation indicates the man fired shots at the responding officers when they tried to take him into custody.

State Police say a Boyd County Sheriff’s Office deputy and an officer with the Ashland Police Department returned fire, but the suspect was not hit.

He was taken into custody.

His name has not been released.

His mother was taken to a trauma center in Huntington, West Virginia.

Her condition is not known at this time.
