KSP recovers stolen semi truck
MOREHEAD, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Kentucky State Police Inspector with Commercial Vehicle Enforcement stopped a semi truck at the Morehead I-64 westbound weigh station for failing to have a KY weight distance tax (KYU).
The inspector says while she was in the process of completing her commercial safety inspection, the driver couldn’t provide the truck registration. When the inspector ran a check of the registration plate through The National Crime Information Center (NCIC,) she says it came back to another vehicle. The inspector says she then ran the vehicle identification number (VIN) from the semi and discovered it was entered as a stolen 2009 Freightliner from Virginia.
No arrest has been made at this time, and the investigation continues.
