KSP-Post 5 celebrates National Public Safety Telecommunications Week
CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police – Post 5 is taking some time to thank the team that makes up their emergency communications during National Public Safety Telecommunications Week.
United States Congress created the week in 1991 to recognize workers who link the public to emergency services. KSP wants to raise public awareness about the people behind the scenes, who make emergency resources available to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year.
In 2014, Post 5 dispatchd over 41,000 calls or service to the public. The 14 men and women who make up the communications center serve people from Carroll, Gallatin, Henry, Oldham, Trimble, and Owen Counties. A press release from KSP praises the team’s "skill in high-pressure, high-stress situations [allowing] rapid emergency response and aide and compassion in times of great distress."
