KSP: Pills and $36,000 found during traffic stop

BLEDSOE, Ky. (WTVQ)- State police say an impaired driver in Harlan County had dozens of pills, and more than $36,000 in cash with him.

Troopers say 62-year-old Charles J. Gilbert of Middlesboro is facing several charges, including reckless driving, driving under the influence, and trafficking controlled substance 1st degree.

State police say early Monday morning, troopers saw Gilbert in a pickup truck speeding on the wrong side of the road on KY-221.

After he was pulled over, troopers say they saw two oxycodone pills in the floor board of the truck. State police say Gilbert also had 48 hydrocodone pills hidden in an ashtray, and $36,680.00 in cash in a bag under the hood of the pickup.

Gilbert is being held in the Harlan County Detention Center.
