UPDATE: KSP identifies man shot and killed by deputy
SHELBY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) –Troopers say a 22-year-old man was the one shot and killed by a deputy at an area church.
They say Dylan M. Dalzell, from Shelbyville was pronounced dead at Simpsonville Baptist Church by the Shelby County Coroner. Troopers say Dalzell was carrying a crowbar and refused multiple commands to drop it while walking toward the Deputy Sheriff involved in the shooting.
Troopers also say they’ve arrested three additional suspects acting as lookouts and suspect they are involved in a number of burglaries at the church.
The suspects are as follows:
Courtney L. Eggen, age 27, of Shelbyville. Courtney has been charged with Burglary 1st Degree.
Steven A. Mathus, age 29, of Shelbyville. Steven has been charged with Burglary 1st Degree and Receiving Stolen Property Under $500.00
Chastity R. Heitzman, age 27, of Shelbyville. Chastity has been charged with Burglary 1st Degree and Receiving Stolen Property Under $500.00
Other charges are pending before the Grand Jury.
The Shelby County Deputy has been placed on paid administrative leave in accordance to the policy of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

Kentucky State Police (KSP) are investigating a deadly shooting in Shelby County after a deputy fired his weapon.
According to KSP, Shelby County deputies were responding to a reported break-in at Simpsonville Baptist Church around 3:00 a.m. Friday. When deputies arrived they came into contact with a male suspect who they say was armed.
The suspect was reportedly shot by a deputy after being told to drop his weapon multiple times. State police say he was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending the notification of family.
According to Investigators, church members reported another break-in Wednesday night.
Members of the church decided to stay Thursday night through Friday morning –when they discovered the church was broken into again.
No other injuries have been reported following the shooting.
