KSP: Motorcyclist killed, passenger injured in Knox County

CORBIN, Ky. (WTVQ) – State Police say a motorcycle rider was killed and his passenger injured in a collision with a car on Ky 3436 in the Corbin community of Knox County on Tuesday.

Investigators say 21-year old Michael Caldwell of Woodbine was riding a motorcycle eastbound on Ky 3436 when he hit the passenger side of a westbound car that was turning left off of the highway into a driveway.

State Police say Caldwell and his passenger, 29-year old Jamie Sibley of Woodbine, were thrown from the motorcycle on impact.  Investigators say Caldwell died at the scene, while Sibley was airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.  State Police say Caldwell and Sibley were not wearing helmets.

Investigators say the driver of the car, 27-year old Mallory Johnson of Corbin, was taken to Baptist Health of Corbin for observation.  State Police say two passengers in the car were not hurt.  The collision is still under investigation.
