KSP: Man wanted in Florida murder arrested in Hazard

HAZARD, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Florida man with ties to eastern Kentucky was arrested in Hazard today by Kentucky State Police.

Officers say they had been contacted by officials with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department in Florida, seeking assistance in locating 48-year-old Michael Anthony Herald, of Dover, FL.

Herald, who is originally from Perry County, had an active arrest warrant for two counts of murder, and investigators with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department had information that he was in the Hazard area as recently as Thursday, say Troopers.  According to police, Herald was possibly driving a vehicle belonging to the Florida victims.

Officers say that on Friday, at around 11:55 a.m., the suspect vehicle Florida investigators had described was seen on Combs Road.  Troopers say Herald was driving the car, and was arrested without incident.
