KSP: Man shot to death after pointing gun at officers
DAVIESS COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- State police say officers shot and killed a man Thursday afternoon after he pulled out a gun and aimed it at authorities.
State police say it started when deputies were called to a burglary in progress on Boothfield Road in western Daviess County. Investigators say someone had seen the armed intruder run off.
Authorities say the man had gone into some nearby woods. They say area schools were put on lockdown for safety.
State police say the man was spotted about 15 minutes later. They say he was told several times to surrender. According to investigators, the man began to kneel, then suddenly pulled out a gun and aimed it in the direction of officers. State police say an officer then shot the suspect. They say the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect’s name has not been released. State police say the investigation is ongoing.
