KSP: Madison County dispatcher stabbed to death in Owsley County

BOONEVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ)- State police in Richmond say a man stabbed to death in Owsley County, Friday night was a dispatcher in Madison County.

Troopers say 28-year-old Benjamin T. Brewer, of Beattyville, got in an argument with 25-year-old Dustin Sparks, of Clay County when Sparks fatally stabbed Brewer. Troopers say it happened at a residence on Fairgrounds Road.

Sparks was arrested, troopers say, and is being held in Three Forks Regional Jail, charged with murder. Troopers say Brewer died at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

“You know, this is actually the second dispatcher to tragically lose their life here in Madison County, and here we’re also just trying to deal with the death, the tragic death of Daniel Ellis. So obviously this kind of brings back feelings and opens wounds that the people here are still trying to deal with,” says Trooper Robert Purdy, with KSP.
