UPDATE: Reward offered for information on string of arsons
RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police are investigating a house fire that was started in Madison County on Jacks Creek Road around 10:00 am this morning.
The fire was reported by a former Madison Co. firefighter who saw smoke billowing from the residence and started fighting it with a garden hose, according to troopers.
Investigators say the home was burglarized before being intentionally set on fire, making it the sixth arson in five counties since April 30th. Other fires believed to be connected to today’s arson occurred in Garrard and Jessamine Counties on Friday, April 30th, Jessamine and Fayette Counties on Monday, May 2nd, and Scott County on Tuesday, May 3rd.
Kentucky State Police are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious that could be related to the fires to contact KSP Post 7 at (859) 623-2404 or the Arson Task Force at 1-800-27ARSON (1-800-272-7766). The Arson Task Force is offering up to a $1000.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for starting any of the fires.
