KSP investigating assault in Clay Co.
LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say there are two suspects after an assault in the Oneida community of Clay Co. over the weekend.
Officers say they received a call around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday about a single-vehicle wreck of HWY 66. When they arrived, troopers say the driver of the vehicle, 36-year-old Johnny Davidson, had suffered a gunshot wound to the back of his neck.
Police say Davidson had been parked at the Oneida car wash when two men pulled into the parking lot in a red Dodge Durango, and began to assault Davidson. According to officers, Davidson tried to drive away, but the men pursued, even ramming Davidson’s vehicle.
After turning onto HWY 66, officers say one of the two men pulled a gun and began firing at Davidson’s vehicle. They say Davidson was hit in the neck, which caused him to crash.
Davidson was airlifted from the scene to the University of Kentucky Medical Center where he was last listed in critical but stable condition.
Two suspects have been identified, but no arrests have been made at this time.
