KSP investigates fatal crash in Pike County

Draffin, Ky. (WTVQ)- Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post 9 are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Monday afternoon on the Regina Belcher Highway.

KSP Post 9 troopers were called to a two vehicle crash in US 460 in the Draffin community around 1:20 PM.

17 year-old Dakota Compton of Regina was pronounced dead on scene by the Pike County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation shows that Compton was traveling west on US 460 when he apparently lost control of his vehicle and crossed the center of the highway.

His vehicle was then rear ended by a commercial vehicle traveling eastbound.

Trans-Star Ambulance service, and the Elkhorn City Fire Department were on scene to assist with the crash.

The collision is being investigated, and reconstructed By Sergeant Dixon of the Kentucky State Police.
