KSP investigate fatal Elizabethtown police shooting
ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – State Police say they are investigating a July 7 fatal shooting involving Elizabethtown police officers.
At approximately 1:05 p.m., Officers Scot Richardson and Matt McMillen reportedly responded to a call about a man acting erratically and carrying a knife on Fontaine Drive.
Later identified as 28-year-old Joshua Blough, police say the man became aggressive when the officers made contact, and confronted them. They said he ignored multiple verbal demands to drop the weapon, and approached the officers in an aggressive manner, still brandishing the knife.
Blough was shot by the officers, said KSP, and they administered first aid until EMS arrived. Police say Blough was taken to the Hardin Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
KSP say they are still investigating the incident, and both EPD officers have been placed on paid administrative leave, per agency policy.
