KSP identifies inmate who died after being injured at jail

UPDATE: (6/6/18, 3:29 p.m.) — Kentucky State Police announced a man is now charged with murder of an inmate in Floyd County.

State Police say an arrest warrant was served on 23-year-old Scottie L. Gibson for the death of 29-year-old Adam Potter.

Detectives say the charge comes after interviewing witnesses and physical evidence that was recovered at the scene.

FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police have released the name of an inmate who died after being taken to the hospital from the Floyd County Detention Center Tuesday.

State Police say he is 29-year-old Adam Potter of Prestonsburg.

Potter was found injured, possibly from a fight, at the jail, according to investigators.

He was taken to Highlands Regional Hospital, where he was pounced dead a short time later.

An autopsy is being conducted Wednesday to determine the cause of death.

Kentucky State Police have opened an investigation into Potter’s death.
