KSP: Father indicted in shaken baby case, child in critical condition
GRAYSON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A five-month old baby is in critical condition with head trauma from being shaken by his father, according to Kentucky State Police.
Investigators say 24-year old Jeffery Wellman, of Grayson, became frustrated with his baby boy and shook the child, causing the head trauma.
KSP says when the baby was flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital in West Virginia with a serious brain injury, hospital personnel became suspicious after noticing multiple symptoms traditionally associated with Shaken Baby Syndrome. Hospital personnel contacted law enforcement.
A Carter County Grand Jury indicted Wellman on Friday, according to KSP.
He’s in the Carter County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond.
