KSP: Crash involving Danville Fire SUV leaves 1 dead

A multiple-vehicle crash, involving a Danville Fire Department SUV, left one person dead and another with life-threatening injuries in Danville Friday.

State Police say the crash happened just before 10:45 a.m., at the intersection of Hustonville Road and the Danville Bypass in Danville.

According to KSP, a Danville Fire Department SUV was responding, with lights and sirens on, to a reported vehicle fire south of Danville on Hustonville Road.

When the fire department SUV entered the intersection of Hustonville Road and the Danville Bypass, a motorcycle, that was traveling east on the Danville Bypass, struck the passenger side of the vehicle.

Two people were on the motorcycle and were both wearing helmets, according to KSP. The driver was thrown off the motorcycle and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Boyle County Coroner. The passenger of the motorcycle was airlifted to University of Kentucky Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The crash caused the fire department SUV to collide into two other vehicles that were traveling in the other direction on Hustonville Road.

The victim’s name has not yet been released.
