KSP: Child injured in horse riding accident, man arrested
MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Paducah man is arrested after a child is injured riding a horse.
Kentucky State Police say they responded to the Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah on Friday to a report of an injured 5-year-old.
Troopers say the child was being treated for non-life threatening injuries he had received during a horse riding incident.
The child was later flown to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee for the treatment of those injuries.
State police say 54-year-old Keith R. Gorham had been intoxicated while riding a horse near Kenbar Inn in Gilbertsville earlier in the afternoon.
Gorham had given horse rides to three children, ages 5, 2, and 2, while he was intoxicated, according to police.
During one horse ride, the 5-year old was thrown from the horse and injured.
Gorham was taken into custody shortly after the incident and charged with DUI (non-motor vehicle), assault, and wanton endangerment.
He was lodged in the Marshall County Jail
