KSP: Blown tire triggers deadly collision in Warren County
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say a blown tire triggered a collision that left a Franklin man dead on Monday afternoon in Warren County.
State Police say a preliminary investigation indicates the front driver side tire of a 1999 Ford F-350 pickup truck with a gooseneck trailer blew out, causing the driver, 53-year old Anthony Rutledge, of Henderson, to lose control.
KSP says Rutledge’s pickup and trailer crossed the median on I-165 into the opposite lane, colliding with a 1997 Kenworth commercial vehicle driven by 52-year old David A. McClain. McClain was pronounced dead at the scene by the Warren County coroner, according to KSP.
Anthony Rutledge was taken to the Medical Center at Bowling Green where he was treated for his injuries.
State Police say the deadly collision happened around 3:00 p.m. at mile marker 9.
Trooper Bo Hubbard is leading the investigation. He was assisted at the accident scene by other KSP Personnel, the Barren River Fire Department, Medical Center EMS, and the Warren County Coroner’s Office.
